Hi All
Another day another 'I want to lose weight and save money' diary
, and I'm half way there; my mother is kindly paying for me to attend weight watchers where I have lost 3 stone 4 pounds in just under six months, I have another 5 stones to go on my weight loss journey, but I have only just had my LBM (April 09) and trying to diet and stick to a budget seems incredibly difficult, the main issue is that I'm veg phobic, well almost, I like potatoes (regular and sweet), parsnips (but roasted only!) lentils/chickpeas, mushrooms and butternut squash, which is limiting on a budget as a cheap salad for lunch would save a fortune and help with the low points days, I have tried most things, and I can cope with most root veg in a soup blitzed up, but in solid form its a no no, I'm so fussy its unbelievable.
I guess I just want to get this all down on virtual paper to sort out my head, I posted an SOA on the main boards, but I think I've got to the point where we've switched and saved what we can until next year, and the only place we can save is food, currently our budget is £150 a month for two, (my DH is as skinny as a rake and could do with fattening) so you see the dilemma, how do we eat well, cheaply and lower my calorie intake and up his?
I started baking to save on sweet foods, as its one of my weaknesses, using WW recipes, but my DH isn't that bothered by food so it either gets forced on him, with my help or goes to waste, which is not good. I have learned to make a kg of mince feed us for 10 meals, with a lot of bulking out with lentils, porridge and mushrooms, and I'm not afraid of the value ranges, in fact I love looking at a sea of it on the checkout belts it means I'm saving, but I think I can beat it, I want to aim for no more than £30 a week on food and toiletries (about £5 of this is toilet roll and female products) so its more like £25 of food, and it needs to be low fat, healthy food ranges, grr it hurts my head just thinking about it!
Anyway I think I'll go and finish cooking my dinner, we're having a roast tonight, and saving half the meat for sandwiches for DH for the next two weeks lunches (HM soup for me) and I have a meal plan in place for next week as its the week before payday! I'm aiming for 4 NSDs next week.
Hopefully that didn't completely bore you, well done for sticking it out:T suggestions more than welcome
