High Court date on 23 June - should I attend?

Hi chaps, can I just say what an amazing resource this is. I've been around the internet for a while, but it's heartening to find such a great bunch of like minded people helping each other out.

Anyway, I've done a fiar amount of research on here and elsewhere, and find myself needing to ask a question. I owe about £30k to HMRC for self employed tax, and about £30k on overdrafts, credit card, car loan, etc. I cannot afford to pay ay of this and I have been fending off the revenue for 2 to 3 years.

Basically they have forced my BR, and the High Court date is set in London fr this Tuesday, the 23rd June. Question is: do I need to attend? It will cost a lot to get there and back from the Midlands, and I have family responsibilities for schools runs, etc. I'm not intending to ask for more time, after 3 IVA advisors and one concerted IVA attempt, I am now in the position where BR is the way to go.

If I do not turn up and it gets rubber stamped, will I miss anything? Will I just get a letter from the OR in due course?

There is nothing compelling you to attend. If you are not contesting or asking for more time then there is probably little point.

Once the BR order is made the case should be transferred to your local OR's office and/or a trustee, so little problem there either.

If you decide not to attend, then of course let the court know this formally as a courtesy.
