If the council house is just in your husband's name, I really think you need to speak to someone in the council. If he's unwilling to pay towards anything but the food you are in quite a vulnerable position - if nothing else, you need to know what happens if you don't manage to pay the rent.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've been looking at finances and I'm going to have to get tough with kids. Daughter and boyfriend on minimum wage but they're going to have to contribute something. It's going to be tough but I've made my mind up that I'm going to get all this sorted and then once I've got my money problems sorted then I think OH will be getting the heave!
