I have a set of stainless steel Viners saucepans. The biggest has two handles (instead of one long handle like the rest) and a glass lid with a hole for steam escaping.
Can I put it in the oven to use as a casserole dish, do you think?
Don't ask me to check the paperwork that came with it as the set is almost two years old and so who knows where I put it...!
Or do I need to buy a proper casserole dish? I almost did before wondering if I could save some cash by using this one instead...
Thanks

Having had a quick look around online, it would appear that these saucepans are rated only for on the hob, not in the oven. I wouldn't risk it unless someone comes on here and says they have actually done it and it turned out fine!

You can use stainless steel pots & pans in the oven, but ONLY if they have SS handles too.
It's wooden/plastic handles you have to be careful of as they will warp/crack/break.
I only have John Lewis basic SS pans and they all go in the oven - not much choice really, as I have an Aga and very little cooking is done on the hotplates. However, they do have SS handles on the pans and the lids.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
We saw Lesley Waters do a demonstration at the Food Lovers Festival last year and she had these incredibly posh pans that you could put in the oven. We went to look at them afterwards and they cost a fortune ~ great set of pans though...
I doubt your pan will be able to withstand the heat. I would definitely recommend a new casserole dish“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”
