Last minute BR questions?

Hi, Just helping my girlfriend through her SOA as she has her court appointment on Tuesday. Would like to ask you guys a couple of questions please!

Firstly, just filling out the Outgoings, when filling in 'clothing' and 'other essential payments' as since deciding the best route for her is BR we have found out she is pregnant, can this influence any of the amounts she can put down i.e maternity clothes etc and baby stuff we are going to need??

Also we have two cats, can you put down cost of injections/special food etc (they are still kittens)??

And lastly, is it ok to put down expenses for birthday/xmas etc??

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Jon0

Congratulations on the baby! And I think that the pregnancy will definitely mean she would have to make sure her clothing allowance will cover any extra things needed and also you can't rely solely on presents for clothing for baby so you will need to allow for this too.

re the cats, you can allow for the cost of pet insurance on the soa but not sure about the injections. As for the pet food, you should include cost for this in your groceries amount.

You are not likely to be allowed to include the cost for birthdays or xmas am afraid. All you can do is try save any surplus income towards these things.

Also we have two cats, can you put down cost of injections/special food etc (they are still kittens)?? on a bankruptcy SOA you'd be allowed £20 a month....BUT if they require special foods etc then you would need to provide proof from the vets & the OR may allow more...

And lastly, is it ok to put down expenses for birthday/xmas etc?? Normally the OR would refuse this...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you had any advice yet from the debt agencies?

    Donna - thanks very much!

Philnicandamy - cheers! Yeah I've been with her to two CAB appointments to make sure it's the right thing. Basically she owes just over £600 a month with about £200 to pay this!

Am I right in thinking then that as long as she shows at the court that she can not pay her debts and afford to live at the same then she will be made BR, and it's down to the OR when she speaks to them on the phone to talk through all the outgoings she has and can then talk about the pregnancy and outgoings in more detail??

    Thanks for your help!

Pretty much that Jon yep....if the court sees she's indeeed insolvent they'll sign the paperwork there & then....a quick call from the OR to sort any immediate probs (bank account...creditor hassles etc) then the OR will perform an interview shortly after (can take a few weeks & usually over the phone) they'll discuss your SOA etc & thats basically it in a nutshelll...dont forget though in the interview its her chance to ask questions as well...not just the OR's)
