Carpet prices??? Advice please!!

Hi there,

Im looking for a bit of advice here...myself and my partner have just been offered a brand new 2 bedroom ground flat through our local housing association so I will need to get this all carpeted.

I have been looking on line at carpet right and see they have a sale on but there are no prices. I have also found two carpets through a company called Allied Carpets, one at £5.49/m2 and one at £4.99/m2.

Due to this being my first home and first time needing to do this and being on a strict budget, I was wondering if any one thought this was a good price. I haven't yet got the measurements of the rooms and won't do til thursday.

Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks

A little vague to determine whether it is a good price or not!!!

Would need type of carpet, construction, room sizes to determine this. Carpets range from £1 to £1000 a square metre....

You might have a bit of a surprise if you go to a local independant carpet store - often they can beat people like that because they don't put their prices up to be able to put them down, IYSWIM.

Agreed. The carpet might sound like good value, but more often than not, you will find that the extras (Fitting, underlay, grippers, delivery etc) will triple the price if you buy from one of the multiple carpet retailers. The carpets are advertised cheaply to get you in the door.

My advice is to shop around - check the price of the extras, as well as just the carpet.
