Hello Again,
Sorry in advance - been drinking some very cheap wine I found in a cupboard !!
Anyway - I have spoken to cccs and they have put me ona DMP but cananyone please tell me why I acn't go for an IVR?, my wage is reflected as it is now but I have adecent job and I am currently signed off with depression and anxiety (work makes it worse)

I am so lost and this all all making my depression worse - if I could see a way out I would go back to work)
Don't get me wrong I hate my job and have been down graded recently due to depression - if I leave the figures will change. I can currently pay £227 per month( on a DEMP when it goes through) but I don't care any more. Sorry for the rubbish spelling but drink a bit as am sooooooo stressed
Thanks

    Hi

First of all I want to say that I understand how you feel as I have been there with depression and got the T-shirt.

However I really think it is important for you to stay in your job as depression likes nothing better than people who have nothing to fill their day. I would suggst you go in (with your union rep or a colleague) and speak to your HR department. Point out to them how disillusioned you feel in your work and how this is making your depression worse. Your employer has a duty of care and under employment legislation cannot discriminate against you for any mental illness, indeed they need to ensure they are treating you fairly and understanding your needs.

I know that being in debt is crap but taking control of things will make you feel better. If you have an arrangement in place then that is something - you are tackling your debts. So you need to focus on this as a positive step.

I know that jobs can be boring and, lets be honest, working is not fun. However it gets you out of the house and makes your mind work and think about other things other than your debt. Believe me not working would make you feel worse s you would be bored - there are only so many episodes of Diagnosis Murder and bargain Hunt a person can stomach!!!!

If you really hate your job then look for something else - but do not leave your job until you have a replacement. As you will know if you leave a job to become unemployed you will not qualify for benefit.

I know it is hard but stay strong and stay focussed. Your job is a means to an end (you becoming debt free).

    You can beat this.

Hi Supersleuth and welcome! What benefits do you think an IVA over a DMP? I really struggle to find anyone who has been happy with their IVA. Why don't you tell us more about your debt and your SOA and we'll point out the options to you. Although CCCS usually give good advice it is always worth getting a 2nd opinion so I'm glad you came here to get one!

If you don't have an income, you will struggle on an IVA. CCCS will usually only recommend an IVA if it is suitable for you. A dmp would seem a better option as it is more flexible, but without knowing your situation fully it's difficult to know what to suggest.

As other poster has said, it best to look for another job whilst you are in a job rather than just leave with nothing especially as jobs are hard to come by at the moment. Also, job hunting may help with your depression as you will be channelling your energies into something positive. I would certainly speak to your HR department and see if they can help; I know my company offer 6 counselling sessions paid for by the company and do a return to work programme etc.

    Good luck.
