Bellini cocktails - tinned peaches?

Options
Bit of a strange one but does anyone know if you can get away from blitzing tinned peaches to make a Bellini cocktail. The book says fresh peaches but I am trying to cut a few costs by buying tinned.
I am also using Cava instead of champagne - it'll be fine!!!

It's only for friends but they have quite fine tastes and think that I am a bit of a bumpkin anyway so don't want to make gak cocktails and show myself up on a special girls night.

    Hiya! :hello:

I've never made this cocktail before, but I Googled it to see what answers came up. On the BBC Food website there is a recipes which says you can use both fresh or tinned peaches, as long as the tinned ones are on juice, not syrup.

The recipe can be found here:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/bellinicocktail_67941.shtml

    Hope this helps :)

I think in a way it might be safer to use tinned than fresh, as you would have to make sure the fresh ones were really ripe (which they never seem to be unless you keep them for a week these days). I think tinned ones in juice would be fine.

My goodness!! Thank you so much from all of the clever replies. You have saved me money and time - I shudder at the thought of chopping and peeling peaches.

    THANK YOU!!
    Now.... about the hangover..
    What do you recommend there?

My only sworn by remedy is puffy cheesy crisps and diet coke. Classy eh?

Drink a large glass of water before you go to bed. It stops the dehydration brought about by the alcohol, so you don't get such a doozy of a hangover. It works for me.:o

Great  I've just been drinking Bellinis in Venice, and was hoping I'd be able to reproduce them at home. We'll be doing this for our big summer barbeque :T
