Daft ponderings of other halves

Hubby and I were talking about out upcoming BR and pondering various questions. One of which regarded what assets the OR is likely to try to sell (apart from the big stuff like the house). It turns out that what he's most concerned about is his box set of Laurel and Hardy DVDs (cost about £50 new), bless! :rotfl:
Can anyone put his mind at rest?
Thanks,
SS

Anyway, I can assure you that they will not take this from you.

Assets that the OR is generally concerned with anything with a resaleale value over a 750 (that was my understanding from OR) - exceptions being cars, which they may take regardless of age/value. They are looking for expensive or luxurious items. A box set of L&H is unlikely to fall into that category....
Your OH obviously has good taste though - my favourite L&H moment is from Man O'War where they only have enough money for 3 soda's and they are trying to impress the ladies they are with..... classic (google for "laurel and hardy" and "I'll have a soda")....0 -
Thanks so much for your repies. It's so nice to know that even with all of the pressure around us at the moment there are still things that can give a good belly laugh!
CL I know the one you mean, a classic!0 -

Hi
Well what I can say is that from our experience (in Scotland) the trustees were not interested in any of our assets.
We had to list any jewellery over £1000 (I should be so lucky) and other items we had. I was honest and put down pretty much everything in the house.
At that time the house we had (since repossessed) was lovely and we had a beautiful antique oak dining table and chairs which was worth about £3k. The trustees actually sat at it while they filled in our forms and didn't even mention it!!!! (although we later put it to auction to pay for our removal costs when we were put out - we sold it for £1400 but have since it it up for sale at an antique shop for £3,500).
Anyway upshot is that I basically think they want an easy life and really cant be ar*ed with the whole selling off thing. Maybe it depends on your trustee - ours leave us pretty well alone apart from the six monthly statement of what we earn.
So I feel safe that I can say that Laurel & hardy will be singing the Trail of the Lonesome Pine in your house for many a time to come.
