romantic ideas/breaks/birthday treats!

ok, i'm stuck...

I have the most beautiful woman I've ever met and her birthday is coming up... for my birthday she took me to a stunning boutique hotel in Manchester (eleven didsbury park) and it was lovely.. I obviously want to go one better but I don't know what to do. I just want to get away for a couple of days, or something really romantic... I need ideas!

I had thought about cooking her a meal in her back garden and halfway through the meal having a decent singer come in and playing an acoustic guitar.. softly singing her favourite songs.. or something like that (wussy i know!).. but I want something better.

budget of around £500 for a couple of days away or a nice idea... PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

How about a few nights here? http://www.crazybeargroup.co.uk/ They have a 50% reduction on room rates at Beaconsfield and Stadhampton at the moment. I have just booked a couple of nights for my OH's B'Day there - bath in middle of room, take some candles, they have nice restaurants, shop for a picnic during the day and go for a country walk etc. I would soooo love to be taken somewhere like this but alas - my OH doesn't think like you so I had to book it for him instead!

Or how about a mini spa break? Pampering is always good and would be appreciated! I don't know about the crooning thing - if my OH had booked a guitar player to come and sing to me in my back garden I would just cringe and worrying what the neighbours were thinking!!! (but thats me - obviously your OH might appreciate it!).

Whereabouts do you want to go?

thanks so much for your reply! I'm not sure where i want to take her, anywhere really. I've arranged for her to have a few days off work so it can be anywhere. And i know what you mean about the musician!
A nice weekend away somewhere would be cool. . I took her to new york earlier this year and that was amazing, but it's not where we go i guess, just as long as it's memorable.. . . Someone out there must have been taken on an amazing surprise adventure, share it here please so i can steal it!

This is gonna sound a bit cheesy, butits not where you go, the fact that you've organised it all & that she's with you will make it special!

Is there a hobby or something that you could base it round? Perhaps some friends she hasn't seen for a long time who could come along as well as an extra surprise? How about a themed weekend? I'd love to go on a murder mystery weekend!! You could try here: http://www.lovefromme.co.uk/romantic-holidays-and-short-breaks.shtml

or how about butlins/haven?? Cheezy, but loads to do & she wouldn't be expecting it! lol

Let us know what you decide to do!!

I agree with the above post - its definitely the thought that counts more than the whereabouts. How about planning a trip away somewhere and leaving clues about things you will be doing and where you will be going - get her guessing with magazine articles and strategic clues - it adds to the build up.

Or how about a seaside adventure somewhere romantic rather than cheesy? There are some lovely classy seaside resorts - Southwold for example. A picnic, a walk along the beach, a jazz evening somewhere etc... - the planning would count for me rather than where I was taken. If someone had really thought about what we were going to do, it would be miles better than somewhere expensive or lavish.

Do you want to hint to my OH please???!!!:rotfl:

How about going to Brighton for few days. Make most of the nice weather. They have some lovely boutique hotels that have some lovely little touches, some great restaurants, some brilliant shopping, and lots of places to sit in the sun having a drink as well as walking along the beach.

I have been here many times, everytime I love it! Its a great place and because its by the seaside feels like a mini holiday.

Agree with OP I would find the musician thing a bit cringey and would feel uncomfortable.

Other than that what about a trip to Champney's spa??
Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!
