Genuine Coal Tar Soap?

Does anyone know where you can still get genuine coal tar soap? The main brand of Wrights doesn't actually contain coal tar, and neither does Sainsbury's own brand.

Wasn't the ingredient withdrawn because it was carcinogenic?

I'm not sure if they're allowed to use it any more.

Only if it is more than 5% coal tar, but under that it is safe...apparently.

  • Just read on Wiki that the EU banned all non-prescription products containing coal tar. Tea tree oil has been substituted. Maybe your GP can prescribe something for you.
We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

We were looking for this recently. Someone told us that West Indian shops still sell a coal tar soap. But haven't found one yet to look. HTH.

We'll ask him next time we see him :) I heard that coal tar soap was good for psoriasis, my wife suffers from it badly and it was recommended to us.

As a psoriasis suffer myself I can that all coal tar products are a great help. When I was younger I was admitted to hospital with it and they made up a special coal tar mix for me. Speak to your GP as there are some fantastic new psoriasis treatments about now.

Try the 'Malki Dead Sea Salt Soap' and the Salts from Boots, this is a great help for my skin, I also use the shower gel and the moisturising cream.

naked body care products are really good for psoriasis, boots have a small range and they have their own website, none of the nasties in their products that irritate it.
