Talking to the OR before BR

Just finished talking to NDL and they suggest contacting my local OR before the BR hearing and asking them hypothetical questions based on my circumstances to see if they would be happy to go 'easy' on me. I've never heard of this before. Anyone else been told this?

Must admit, not heard this one before. Bit of a difficult one to call - I would imagine the OR's are busy so may not have the time to talk through hypothetical cases with you. Did NDL say if anyone else had had any success with this tack?

    Hi

We spoke to our OR before bankruptcy - just a few points that needed to be clarified. She was very helpful. Ours was a creditors petiton do not know if that made a difference

Hope it goes well for you

Good grief, its bad enough having to talk to OR's once you are br so can't imagine doing it prior.
If this is general advice ndl are giving out then the I.S are going to be even more busy and inundated with calls.
Hope all goes well. Let us know how you get on ;)

    Hi MercMan,

Our dealing with the OR have been "positive" she has responded to our calls - calling back when not initially available, etc. Wrote letters to banks prior to interview to say she had no interest in them.

The interview was loing 3 hrs + but throughout she was pleasant and allowed for three breaks. I was allowed to attend the interview with my husband.

I cannot say, if she went "easy" on us she did ask for lots of clarification of various points, but it was all conducted in a firm but friendly manner even had a few smiles /laughs .

We did go prepared (thanks to this board) had broken down income (as different benefits) We used the online service for our form and this has a few errors which we did a clarification sheet for. Copied the form. The OR was pleased that we had done this as it made it easier for her.

We tried asking a few question prior with the HELPLINE but they said they would not answer anything that was case specfic and to ask the OR.

    Hope it goes well

Not sure about all OR offices, but mine would not only give general answers prior to a BR - main reason that without the file being in front of you and knowing everything you need to, you may say something wrong.
