Revamping old lampshades

Hi,
We have recently painted one of our bedrooms, a nice shade of blue and I was looking for some nice lamps to go with it, when I came across the following
http://www.redbookmag.com/recipes-home/blogs/cooking/wallpaper_lampshade
So i have taken out 2 old lampshades from the attic and have managed to find a wallpaper sample in B&Q that will go very well with the bedroom deco..
and I am thinking of giving this a go
Now in true MSE style, I would want to do this as cheap as possible
I know I will have to buy the wallpaper hanging set - checked in b&q today and it is £4.18 (includes brush/knife/seam roller/ scraper)
Also wallpaper paste - £1.19 in b&q
But other than that I would need a ribbon to cover the edges and fabric glue for the ribbon
Now I just don't know where to find them cheap. Should I look in a a shop like wh smith/ supermarket/poundland...?
I really want to do it this weekend.. so can't check EBay
Also has anyone done this before? Are the results as good as they seem to be in the link
Thanks very much for your help

Anyone please?
Thanks0 -
I don't think you need a wallpaper kit or wallpaper paste.
I like the idea, if it were me I'd take a 'sample' might depend upon how big you need though, (if it was huge I would buy a roll). Get some pva glue and a brush, put glue on lampshade and stick the paper down. Ribbon, how about your local market or if you have to, hobbycraft, ask in your local charity shops if they have any ribbon or try freecycle.
Hope that helps.0 -
Hi Gothdolly,
Thanks for replying...
I have a Hobbycraft store in my city... so I will go there today to buy everything...
I am going to use a painting brush and will buy crafts PVA from Hobbycraft. If I can't fing the ribbon there, then will checl in Charity shops

I have just finished doing the first lampshade...And I am so excited. I think it is beautiful even if I myself say so

The ceiling lampshades is already blue but I think I will do that also now to match the bedside ones
Total Cost : £2.98 - £1.99 for Crafts PVA and £0.99 for the ribbon0 -
This is brilliant! Well done!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

That is really nice, well done - and thanks for the link! Another project to go on the to-do listWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0
