Getting photo's from a physically damaged memory card?

Hello

I'm hoping somebody on here can help me. I have a Fujifilm XD H 1Gb memory card with photo's on it. The photo's are of me and my nephew who lives on the other side of the world, so very precious. I obviously can't see him much and he is growing up so fast. I'm desperate to get the photo's from the card and don't care how much it costs. I've tried several high street photo shops and they can't help. Does anybody know of a service that is able to access photo's from damaged memory cards?

There appears to be a couple of little dents in the gold strip. If anybody can suggest anything, I'd be really, really grateful. These photo's really do mean the world to me.

Gwenx

http://www.datarecoveryuk.co.uk/digital-picture.aspx but the price seems steep at around £200.

Thanks buglawton. I agree, it does seem a bit steep. I may have to put the memory card in a safe place and save up. Have you used them?

That's an awful lot of money.

Id be inclined to strip the plastic case off and solder it to the right pins on a cheap memory card reader, using a temp controlled soldering iron.

Lol, I wouldn't know where to start Strider. The last time I used a soldering iron was when before my GCSE's!! Thanks for the tip though, if I had the first clue, I would have a go.

Unfortunatly you are at the mercy of the data recovery specialists. Do you have a camera/reader that will read this foramat of card? The Fuji xD is quite specialist. I have a camera myself and would be more than happy to try and recover the images for you.

I have had extensive dealings with data recovery agencies/companies and yes they do charge alot but you have to weigh that against the cost of the data in question. In business, I have known a company to pay over 5K to have a few word documents recovered.... They were contracts worth a hell of a lot more. Now, they backup, backup and back that up!
