Credit Score?

When I checked my email account today, I had a warning from Credit Expert saying that something had changed. Well I hadn’t done anything that would create a credit search for a good while, so decided to log in and check.

Found that it was nothing to worry about, just my Barclays account saying that the account status had changed (put £20 in a few days ago from a £0 balance). While I was there, I decided to do a credit score (by Experian) for a laugh just to see how bad it was.

Imagine my surprise when it came back as 881 which puts me in the good category! “That’s not right!” I thought something is missing? So I checked all the details. It has all the defaulted credit accounts (loans/overdrafts/credit cards), and my bankruptcy order so nothing appears to have been left off (it also says when I am discharge from bankruptcy).

This cant be right?

  • To be honest the CRA's are just another 'weapon' for creditors to threaten you with, in the real world what is on your CRA only forms a small part of what a creditor uses to decide wether to lend to you or not.

The credit 'score' part is a complete con, it is not used by most creditors, they use there own 'system'. It is only there to get you to pay to view it.

The CRA's are mony making organisations, thats all, and are wholy incompetant at making sure the info they hold is correct, its not there responsibilaty:rolleyes: apperantly.
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

Whilst BR with 8 defaults on my Experian report, my score was 540

I would have thought that 0 would have been more appropriate

    Hi

A Score of 881 doesn't sound correct to me either, with what you write. If this is to be believed, my score should be in excess of 2000! I have only one default from some four years ago, and nothing else apart from my active accounts, and I can assure you my score is considerably less than this, so how they calculate scores beggers belief, I can merely assume the Credit Bureaus use these scores as a mere marketing tool to make some £5.95 out of each person, that is curious to see it.

I have seen scores in excess of 881 several times, whilst working for HSBC, so they do exist, but these are generally for those who have little debt, and are the minority, not the majority. Whilst I appreciate the score may seem exciting, I would not take to it being 100% correct, and if you take this as being your overall behavior score, and start applying for things, as a score like that will tell you, you won't have any problems getting good APRs and other Credit Products, then you may just find the application would decline, only adding to what may already be a considerably low score anyway.
