Eeeek Scary Letter from Metropolitan CS

Hi All,
Just received a letter from Metropolitan Collection Services Ltd, with regards to my HSBC CC.
The letter basically says....
"If you do not contact us immediately we intend to instruct DG Solicitors to issue legal proceedings and apply for an Attachment of Earnings order. We Should explain that an Attachment of Earnings order may be sent to your employer by the court. It tells the employer to take an amount from your wages each ay day and send the money to court as payment towards your debt"
Now am I right in saying that MCS are actually HSBC's "in-house" debt collectors?? I am so annoyed as I tried for months to get HSBC to accept a token payment, I sent letters every month along with paying what we could afford, they said they wouldn't accept it but would accept a figure £20 more a month - If we had that I would have given it to them.
We are planning on BR but it wont be until Sept at the earliest, does anyone know if they go ahead with the "Attachment of Earnings" what the next process will be?? will i recive court papers? Also if they get the court order when we go BR will I still have to pay the court order??
The debt is only for £1067, I really wish I could pay them.
very grateful for any help you can give

Both MCS and DG Solicitors are "in house" for HSBC.
So if they claim to be a separate DCA or firm of solicitors then they are fibbing.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi,
Do I actually need to ring them?? I have stopped paying them this month to save for BR fees, how soon are they likely to take me to court?0 -
They can't get an attachment of earnings until they've got a CCJ and you've defaulted on it, they can't just go for an AoE as a method of enforcement, they're making out like they can to frighten you into paying.
When you get the CCJ form through you can attach an I&E to your reply to the judge can see the max you would be able to pay. Judges tend to side with debtors if creditors have been unreasonable, which is sounds like HSBC have. When you submit your defence you can explain that you have been offering reduced payments and HSBC have refused, and can attach copies of all the letters you sent to HSBC.

Must admit i'm not a great fan of HSBC, very willing to keep giving out the cash, but when we started having troube paying it back they are not willing to help you out at all

GE money are worse, but luckly for us they sold the debt to an incompetant DCA, with an even worse solicitor:D
Dont let it worry you until you get a blue court claim, and even then dont panic, just shout, there are a few here that can help;)
But i doubt it will be a problem , most of the drivel they send in there threats is just hot air:rolleyes:Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….
