...brass-effect toilet seat hinges???!!!
I use Cif to clean my toilet but the brass-effect hinges are covered in this green corrosion-like stuff which doesn't go away (Sorry - not very nice I know!).
Anyone know what it is and whether I can use some of my stock of OS-cleaning things (vinegar, bicarb etc) to get rid of and/or prevent its return? Cif is the only branded cleaner I use, but I don't want to make it worse.

My toilet hinges are crome and I have this problem too.
I use Cillit Bang on them and they come up beautifully. There probably is a much cheaper option, but I don't know what it is.£2 Saver Club (started 24th March '06) going towards No. 2 Son Cub trip!!

when you remove the "corrosion" by whatever means, dry and then coat the hinges in clear nail varnish or even better a thin coating of vaseline0

I think these type of things come witha coating to stop rust etc but if it gets scratched it doesn't work
the above suggestion of clear varnish is a good one0 -
