I need to get a prepay card that will work on the internet- does anyone know of anywhere I can get one and load it fast (with cash) so I can use it on the net?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Wow- I can see why now why no one has a prepay card- (unless your too afraid/tierd/...to post?)
They cost a small fortune!
I just want to make one payment of £20 on the net- my current card does not allow me to purchase on the net and credit cards are out of the question. But all the cards I have seen cost you alot even to use them!- First you have to buy the card- this costs anything from free to £15- just for the card!
- Then you need to load the card, this also costs a fee, anything from around 2.75% to 15%- just for putting cash on the card you have already paid for!
- Then you want to use the card? well that'll cost you again- again it varies but anything from 95p up to 15% of your total cost for each transaction
So much for that one! Not recommended! I guess I'll have to cancel the order and go without

If you just want one for a one off purchase (or a few purchases) and it's less then £100 then WHSmith, Somerfield and Clintons sell Mastercard branded gift cards... you can use them straight away (but you need to activate them online for web/telephone purchases - this is free) and the only fees are a purchase fee for the card - £3.95 for £25, £4.95 for £50 and £5.95 for £100 denominations.
You can also check your balance online too.
https://www.my360giftcard.com has all the details.
They are presumably meant to be given as gifts but don't have to be!!!

I've been looking into these for a while, and i think i'm going to go with babee as you get discounts when you use it in certain stores. Probably useless to you if you only want it for one transaction though

I have a Travelex pre paid card in £. I had to pay commission which is £3 up to £200 to load the card, but the card was free and I dont pay for transactions online with it.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700

This sounded great- but then read you get charged £3.50 to use the card- you can purchase a £20 voucher for free, but when you use it, you pay £3.50.
£20 is all I need, so I would have to buy a £30 voucher (which would cost me £2 to purchase) and then I could afford to be charged £3.50 for using it as otherwise I'd incur charges for it going overdrawn- I only got that from the t's and c's- they don't make it easy do they!
And why do they need to be so greedy- all the cards I have seen say they will not pay any interest- like it makes any difference anyway, but they take enough money in the first place, why do they need to take more? If the card runs out/expires, and less then £3.50 is on the card the bank that runs the card takes the money and there is no way of claiming it back, if whats left on the card is more then £3.50 unclaimed, the bank reduce it to £3.50. And then take it anyway.
£30 top up would cost me £5.50
Damn you bank for only allowing me a cash-card!! I cannot now shop online unless I want to pay about 50% more then the actual item costs! Oh the joys of being broke!:o0 -

Thanks ebsay- have you (or anyone) used one of these cards- bit concerned they needed my social security or passport number
Also costly but it is instant which sounds like a good thing- though would need to be cancelled after use as inactivity of 6 months costs you £5 and cancelling the bank account which is regeistered with the card would cost £6 (though apparently they can decide to waver that £6 fee- guess the ombudsman have had a shot at them!)
Though only 4.75% to load (so £20 would cost me around £1) Sounds like the cheapest I have seen so far.
Costs get alot steeper if you ask for an actual card rather then a virtual card. (Lucky for me shops will still accept cash as payment so I am ok with it being a virtual card)
Think the banks need to design a card for one-off payments for small amounts- no such card exists, they are all really designed for many or high purchases- perhaps I should go to the Dragons Den with that- there's got to be a market there!0 -

This sounds good- I did go to the Travelex site- is the card your speaking about called the passport prepaid card? Only problem I could see was the £100 minimum they allowed to be loaded onto the card- I wish I had that much...! maybe then I'd be allowed a debit card!:o Rates are not too bad though- if you are loading alot onto the card.
The Co-op card on the same site looked ok, (or was this the one you have?) with 2% charged on each time you loaded the card and then £3. £30 minimum allowed to load at a time but if its inactive and empty there is no cost. Loading £30 would cost me £3.60 which would be free for me to spend.0 -
