;) Ladies or Gents - Where to buy cheap but cheerful Prom Dresses???

;) any ideas as to where to get cheap as in price not fabric prom dresses. Had a look on ebay and in TK Maxx, any other ideas.

OH sister is in 1st year of Uni and she has a May Ball, but she is tiny, Size 8 in TK Maxx swamped her, so teeny weeny prom dresses are required, as well as more shapely Size 12 :p

Cheers

Debenhams have some really nice prom dresses and they have a sale on just now. This one click here was on special at only £50 in Debenhams in Glasgow on Thursday.

  • Have we always called them prom dresses or is this another americanism?

Try Next and Dorothy Perkins too. They have some nice dresses just now but it all depends on how formal these kinda things are. Ive never been to one myself :)

Try bridal wear shops - most adult bridesmaid dresses will do the job and most shops have a clearance rail. Might also be worth trying George/Asda as they're meant to be doing bridal wear. HTH

    Hi

Try Monsoon - particularly the sale shops: Bicester/Cheshire oaks/Street/Gunwharf Quay......Also some shops still have sale items in them & there were loads of 'prom' type dresses in the Winter sale

    I'd have said Monsoon too.
Their sizes come up big though, so you may have trouble getting a size 8 to fit your sister. Having said that there are usually lots of size 8 items left over in their Bicester outlet store, so your sister may be lucky!

    Hi
got my daughter a beautiful white prom dress in Bicester Village yesterday at Monsoon - (turns out it's a bridal gown!) - reduced from £160 to £40 - it's absolutely gorgeous, not too fancy, very slinky - other stores at Bicester Village also had ball gowns - at Versace, Jigsaw etc.
Would definitely be worth a visit.
Hope that helps - good luck

I'd recommend a Monsoon retail outlet such as Gunwharf Quays in lovely lovely Portsmouth ;)

Then if it comes up too big, then with the money you save, you could always get it taken in ;)
