hi Lainey. Bloke has made some good points. It does sound like you've thought everything through career wise but I still think holding off for a year would be the best option (might be difficult now you've given your notice?)
A year dedicated to debt repayment, saving and budgeting will give you a new mindset for managing money... especially on a tight budget which u may well be on for the next 4 years.
If you're determined to make this happen (and you sound like you are!
) then you really need to address your finances too as this could make or break your next 4 years of study in many ways. I think being 22 and posting on here is a good indication that you want to get on top of it all and you've certainly come to the right place. Far better to post now than 4 years down the line!!
If you decide to start the course this year then all the best!! - but do post your SOA so that we can help you prepare for the financial burden you may be taking on.
Hope all goes ok at the open day. :beer:0 -
Hi Laney, I'm new, just read your thread and all replies. A suggestion not made you might consider is to go to your local Citizens Advice Centre. They will take it all in hand for you and work out a plan to get your house in order. I used to do debt advice work at C.A.B.and it really is worth the effort. Do take all relevant paper work with you which they will copy and give you back originals and work a plan out even write to all your creditors to get the best deal for you maybe even get some reduced.Dosent sound to serious to me just needs organisation from a debt advisor. Hope this helps best of luck0

Hi - I've not been online for a while so have just seen this post. I don;t understand why you can;t pay off the debts on that wage.
You are living at home and yet spend more each month than I do, and I have a mortgage!
You really do need to post your SOA as explained above.
I think you should delay changing jobs until you go to uni, giving yourself a couple of extra months to pay the debts.
Also, you need to get committed to paying off these debts. If you have £400 spare a month now, then in five months you can have paid off all your store cards, leaving you with just two debts.
i also think that if you post your SOA we can find you extra money to throw at your debts so that you will have made a big dent in the Barclaycard by then too.
I won;t try and persuade you to put off uni, although personally I would put it off a year, stick with the current job, and get clear of debt and save your fee money.
The car credit is a real pain. you are paying massive interest and I expect there will be penalties for paying it early, but you should look into that anyway.
Stop paying the debt management company as you are wasting money.
Your debts really aren;t that high. the real issue here is your spending. you need to see where exactly you waste your money and sort that out. That way when you go to uni you won;t end up massively in debt by the end of it!
Please post your SOA because we'd love to help you.
