Frozen bank account

Hi
My wife was declared BR in November '08 and I opened new accounts with Lloyds and stopped using the ones we had with RBS but left them open. Only one of those accounts is a joint one which the child Tax Credit goes into as did one or two other small cheques in the wifes name. We haven't used that account and basically just left it for a rainy day and it now has £550 in it which we need now.
However the OR has recently told the bank about the BR and so they have frozen it and wont let me access the money. (I know we should have shut it!)
I spent an hour and a half in the bank yesterday and they even had possession of a fax from the OR stating that we can access the money but still they refuse to budge.
What can I do about this?
Regards
Mark

You need to contact the OR dealing with your BR again i'm afraid and explain whats happened & the fact the bank wont take details from the OR as proof etc..We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

That's a bloody disgrace. Not believing you even though the OR is involved. I am sure the OR will not be amused with the bank and a reprimand will be forthcoming and your account will be thawed and the cash back with you soon;)Better to be poor than a slave to wealth

I think you're going to have a fight on your hands from what I've seen on previous threads. Don't give up though - that money is rightfully yours. Good luck.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)
