I advocate the use of remanufactured toner cartridges because it saves me money and it helps the environment by preventing used toner cartridges in filling up our landfills.

What's your take on this?

Was a support engineer and have seen remanufactured toners crack open in a printer and leak toner invalidating the warranty and a workshop repair bill of £150 for cleaning it out. In a printer new/newish/costing £5000 nope, an older one maybe if you want to risk it. Some support companies won't support/maintain a printer unless you use original cartridges anyway.
  • Depends if you want to take the risk of practically indelible colour all over your home/office/self. I can't be doing with it, so recycle empty ones and buy the branded originals carefully - the specialist cartridge shops have been consistently uncompetitive so far - especially when trying to convince me that an XL cartridge wasn't worth it (he didn't stock them) as you were paying £23 more for only £15 worth of copies. I got the XL cartridge for £5 less than what he was selling the standard size for in the shop I got the printer from.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I have a really old laser printer that is now worth significantly less than the cost of a new toner cartridge, so I have taken a chance and refilled it myself many times with various cheap kits from ebay, and so far always with good results. You just have to decide how much of a problem it would be if it did in some unfortunate event damage your printer.
