Coin Collections...

I have had the mickey taken out of me by all my mates and family about my obsession with £2 coins. However I am now having the last laugh!

I caught hubby supergluing a lid onto an old jar yesterday. "What are you doing", his reply " well, well I thought your collection was going so well that I have decided to collect £1 coins". Can you believe this is the same man that said my collection was infantile just over a month ago!!

My boss is now collecting £2 coins towards his new motorbike, and even my sister has started collecting £2 coins.

I wonder if anyone else has had this, where their habits are becoming infectious.

I've been slightly mocked also but then again I get the distinct impression that a few of my friends are secretly doing this also :D They've not admitted it yet, but probably because they haven't collected many yet.

Other infectious things include February as "use up month", charity shops for designer labels and ordering every free sample under the sun to use or sell :D

My friends and family still think I'm mad and haven't caught onto my MSE obsession yet despite me going on and on about it, but once they see the strides I am making I'm sure they will soon follow suit. My husband is on board and gives me any 20p's or £2 coins he has which is great as he always has loads of change.
Keep up the good work everyone and seep spreading the MSE message too!!!

:D Initially I was laughed at for saving my 2.00 coins and 50p's but now my otherhalf hands them over to me without a second thought. My mother has started saving 50p and 20p coins, my sister is saving 2.00 coins and my youngest gives me any bits of change he finds to put in what he calls "the holiday jar" as he wants to go pony trekking. Infectious........I'll say :j

  • i have started my mum and my best mate off on the £2 saving thing my best mate however only saves 50p and under as she reckons she never gets £2 coins I made them all a £2 saving box using a washing tablet box that i sealed wrapped up and cut a hole in the top- it will take forever to fill but when its full I will be laughing all the way to the bnk to pay off the credit card bill (haha)

Its great isn't it. There is no way I would have saved £92 if it wasn't for the collection. I do accounts and so when the tills come upstairs - I am the first one checking to see if they contain £2 coins that I could trade. If I only had a £2 coin in my purse - I would rather go hungry/thirsty rather than break into it. Sad - yes I agree!! Having said that, it is the most I have ever saved without being tempted (yes I admit I am/was shocking with money).

So to all of us obsessed - who are now copied by those who not so long ago mocked us. I think we are well and truly having the last laugh.

Whatever you may choose to eventually spend these on - whether it be clearing debt, or buying something specific. I hope you thoroughly enjoy it - we deserve it!!
