More help needed please

Thank you for all your help so far. Had planned to go BR this week after being told our court was a drop in but just needed to ring in advance to check there would be a judge there on the day I wanted to go in, got letter in post with forms to confirm this. So rang up to check judge would be there and was told I needed to make an appointment and no-one in that office would have told us otherwise despite the letter saying the exact same thing but oh well appointment booked for 8th July. I have a few more questions though

1. My car is on hp and worth about £2300 but have owing about £1660, I thought that as it was on hp the or would not have any interest but someone previously said that as I owed less than it was worth the or may be interested and would sell and pay off hp and and take the rest. But this would be only £600-700 and my car is necessary for work as I work 35 miles from home. My parents have offered to help out with the car if really necessary, but if they paid of the remainder would it then be classed as an asset?

2. I am up to date on all utility bills such as gas, elec, virginmedia so do I just carry on paying the dd? Will they be informed of the BR?

3. My car insurance is up for renewal next month and I pay monthly, won't have the money to pay for whole years insurance due to using money for BR fees, so if I just stick with my current insurance provider and let it carry on will they credit check or not (been with them 2 years as let it roll over last year so didn't get the best price)

4. My contract for the rent on our home is from when we first moved in 6 years ago and the rent has since gone up so don't have any proof of how much I am currently paying other than bank statements will this be ok?

Think thats it for now.
Many thanks

Highly unlikely, the OR rarely gets involved with HP cars unless there's alot of money to be made.

    2. I am up to date on all utility bills such as gas, elec, virginmedia so do I just carry on paying the dd? Will they be informed of the BR? No, they shouldn't be told, you just carry on as normal. Although British Gas have been contacting BR's lately and opening new accounts.

    3. My car insurance is up for renewal next month and I pay monthly, won't have the money to pay for whole years insurance due to using money for BR fees, so if I just stick with my current insurance provider and let it carry on will they credit check or not (been with them 2 years as let it roll over last year so didn't get the best price) Should just roll over

    4. My contract for the rent on our home is from when we first moved in 6 years ago and the rent has since gone up so don't have any proof of how much I am currently paying other than bank statements will this be ok? Should be fine, the OR will contact the landlord anyway, so will probably as for confirmation of the current rent.

    Think thats it for now.
    Many thanks

    Hope that helps some.

Virgin media have been known to approach bankrupts as well for some strange reason.....they contacted me a couple of years ago to tell me they were closing my account due to me being BR (shame really i'd changed all the account details over to my OH beforehand!)

  • Can only answer re utility bills and car insurance but hope it helps.
I went bankrupt about three months ago - when recieved new bills post bankruptcy they had written off accounts upto the date of bankruptcy ( well gas had) and started new account for us from the date of bankruptcy. Allowed me to start paying by dd as well. Electric with same company - they haven't opened a new account - just kept the old one, nor have they written off part of the debt. OR told me he would inform utilities I was bankrupt. So guess they decide on the day but you shouldn't have any problems.
Re car insurance - ours just rolled on - but I have rung them since to inform as some people have implied that some agencies wont insure bankrupts - so rang to check - and told not a problem - with direct line.
