Hi PAul,
I had a default notice in the past with BMW which was incorrect. I reported it one month and by the update of the files the next month it had been removed and credit rating restored. I don't know if this is the usual amount of time but just my experience.

Wow, just found my old thread and thought I'd just give an update as it may help someone in the future...
After 2 long hard thought years of arguing with Eversheds which involved persistent phone calls and letters back and forth I finally managed to have the default removed in august 2011....
I had to do some compromising and agreed to pay £2,000 to part settle the bill on the agreement that they immediately removed the default... They advised that its not normal practice but on this occasion they would agree as they could see the issues that were involved and that they technically shouldn't of bought the debt as I was never given the opportunity to settle it...
I also had to agree to not take it any further which made me very suspicious but couldn't work out how to pursue it legally anyway as every time I went to a solicitor they advised it wasn't in their field....
I did have 2 months of hassle after the debt was settled as they kept removing the default one week and it was re-appearing the following week due to technical issues with their system reporting it incorrectly but touch wood to this day it's stayed off my file and my credit worthiness is back to A1 standard.
Really pleased with myself for fighting back and just shows persistence prevails...
Just can't help thinking i might of been due some compensation for all the hardship I experienced through absolutely no fault of my own....

Possibly because Paul started in 2009 and has now come back to update how it all went. The IS has had a change of system since then so that is why the old link didn't work.
