Interview with OR

I have my interview next wednesday and really don't know what to expect.
Can anyone tell me what it's like,is the OR friendly and put you at ease if your nervous? Do they interrogate u about your finances? Do they try to make out u are lying if they come across something of high expenditure?I'm so nervous about it! Also do they tell u there and then that u will get an ipa?

Hi Tommus, I am from Scotland so have a completly different system to you guys down South. I have been reading the voards for a few months now and it seems that most people get on ok at the interview. I am sure i have not read of anyone who felt like they were being accused of lying.
I hope I have put your mind at rest a wee bit, at least till someone more knowledgable than me comes along (shoudnlt take too long lol)

Quick response. My OR was polite & professional, telephone interview was about 45 minutes. Questions about what money/loans/etc was used for. IPA was not discussed, I was notified by post the following week. Be honest and try not to waffle during the long silences. Good luck and try not to worry.

Not all but, most of the ORs are actually friendly, they just want to do their job.
Will they put you at ease? probably up to you rather than them. Nothing to be worried about. You have nothing to fear, except fear itself!
Do they interrogate u about your finances?
Interrogate is the wrong word, but they will want to know how you became BR and how your money was spent.
Do they try to make out u are lying if they come across something of high expenditure?
No of course not. They will want to know the details, but will not accuse you of anything. Generally they are non judgmental. They may well investigate further if they think there is something amiss

Please dont be nervous, nothing is ever as bad as it first looks. Be honest and do not waffle or attempt to fill in the gaps when the OR is writing, with small talk.
You will not be told until later if you get an IPA.
Chin up...........you will be fine, honest!

Our examiner couldn't have been nicer, she put us at ease immediatley. I was almost in tears as we went in the room, completely bricking it. But she was so nice, and understanding. She asked about our debts but not in a demanding way, just matter of factly. I was even smiling by the end of it.

We were told on the day about the IPA, car and house, others have had to wait, it all depends on how they do things at your office. Our examiner had already been through our SoA and discussed it with someone higher up before she saw us, so luckily those decisions had already been made.

Are you having a telephone or face to face interview?

I'm having a telephone interview. I always get nervous in this type of situation, even a job interview I panic! Don't want to start stuttering! Also all of my debts are pre 2006 and I'm worried I won't remember exactly what I used the cards etc for, most were just general amenities and paying rent and bills as had relationship breakdown and was left to pay everything myself. Do they tell u what they think u should be spending and tell u what they think ure surplus is? I'd like to know this before they send me an ipa so I can prepare myself.
