Probably quite stupid itunes question....

I live in UK, buying friend in Ireland (Republic, not NI) ipod, and want to get them itunes voucher. Can they use a sterling one, or will their itunes store be euro only-they do euro gift cards so could get her one of them, but would prefer to give a £25 product red one?
Very confused..... Can't change itunes store on my laptop so unsure if the actual store is country specific?
Thanks

You can only use iTunes cards in the country that they were bought, so a UK one can only be used in the UK store. Also the T&Cs say you have to sign up in the country of your residence and iTunes accounts are only valid in the country of signup (e.g. a UK one is not valid in the USA).
So a friend in RoI won't be able to use a UK voucher, they will have to use a Euro voucher.
HOWEVER - if you wanted to buy your friend a UK one then they could sign up for an account on the UK store - you don't need a credit card if you are redeeming a voucher. They would need to enter a UK address (yours, perhaps?) and then they will be able to spend the credit on the voucher. Once it runs out they could go back to their Euro account or they could get another UK voucher.
In iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, scroll all the way to the bottom and find the Select Store drop down box. You can choose another one there.
It's against the terms and conditions, though - but many people do it (not that that makes it any less against the T&Cs but just saying!), normally getting a USA account and USA vouchers because there is different content available.0 -
Thank you very much-you explained that very clearly

I don't think that they would "get" the changing stores thing(not very techy!), so a euro voucher is the way to go
Thanks again0
