Standard Life eligibility for shares, new guidelines.

There have recently been new guidelines for who is eligible to receive shares and how. I remain slightly confused. I have a small policy ongoing which was in force on March 2004 as required, therefore I should receive some shares. Howecer, I had a much larger policy which matured on August 2005. This does not fall within the accepted time i.e. October 2005. Would this be eligible for the variable rate of shares since it was in force on March 2004?
Has anyone been informed about this? I have sent S.L. a question this morning but will have to wait for their reply.

Simply put no. Part of the proposal will include a change to regulations to allow those whose policies matured on or after 18 October 2005 to qualify for shares. As your policy matured before then you won't be eligible on the basis of that policy. Line has to be drawn in the sand at some point - just means you're unfortunate to be on the wrong side.
It's covered in their latest issue of Members Update which you'll find at https://www.standardlife.com/members
