Does anyone else have chickens that don't go to bed until late at the moment? Much as I love these light nights the chances of me getting an early night are slim at the moment. They're still faffing about on the lawn and it's gone10 oclock!!! I have an early start tomorrow. Unfortunately bribing or rounding them up is useless as they scatter in all directions.
Anyone got any good ideas? I'M TIRED AND I WANT TO GO TO BED!

Show them the roasting tin, a packet of Paxo and a large onion and scare them into bed..:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously hon, hope you think of something soon cos I know catching chickens is like herding cats - it's practically impossible.
Sorry I couldn't help.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
:rotfl::rotfl:Sounds like a possible YouTube clip.....partying hens whilst owner "tears hair out". I can just picture them whispering conspiratorially to each other behind their wings...."If you go thisaway....I'll go thataway..we'll keep her up till midnight at this rate...."
Sorry....shouldnt laugh...hope you managed to round up the miscreants in the end.0 -

Yes, that's just how it feels. The difference is that instead of moaning that they wanted to have a lie-in with massive hangovers this morning, they were clamouring to be let out before 6!

It doesn't help, but when I read the first two posts I thought at first you'd said children, not chickens and was very confused about why they would be scared of Paxo, and had visions of you herding a dozen children around your garden!0

find something they all really, really like and only give it to them when it's time to put them in their coop, with our girls it used to be peanuts( unsalted) so I'd chop some up and take them down to the hen house and they'd race in to get them. we only had 4 to get in though0

I grab a handful of greens from the veggie garden and throw them in their pen, they make a dash for it to get the greens and I sneakily slam the gate shut behind them - works every time (suckers!):D
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
