Budget hotel in newcastle upon tyne

Looking for a budget hotel ( for 2 adults ) in Newcastle as near the city centre as possible. Have checked the Travel Lodge but its £72 on the fri night and £95 on the sat. have stayed at the travel lodge central before and its fine. can anyone recommend a hotel or good B & B
have seen the Grainger Hotel @ £49 and £79 but not sure where it is etc.....can anyone advise. Not going til end of september....

Well, it's not city centre, but it is right across the road from the Hadrian Road Metro station - and the Newcastle Metro is excellent - the Hadrian Lodge Hotel http://www.hadrianlodgehotel.co.uk/
We stayed there last November - it was quite ordinary, but was clean and friendly and has plenty of parking.0 -

The buses and metro service is great in Newcastle, nothing is more than a few minutes ride.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have just booked the Thistle Hotel facing Central train station for £55 per night for a double room. Great location for the town....it was through Hotel club on travel supermarket......0
