ALDI Duel Suspension Bike £79.99

Can anyone tell me if these are any good? My OH has been hinting for a while about a bike but I don't know how these compare. http://www.aldi.co.uk/special_buys/product_141.html

Looks pretty good to me for the price.

However, they are pretty weird to ride if you are not used to them. They bounce up and down like a comedy bike.

Cheap full suss bikes are usually not worth the money. Depends what it's wanted for. To put it in perspective, a decent hardtail that can be ridden hard all day costs £400-£600 and similar full suspension bikes are around the £1000 mark. They will cut the costs on the components, frame, suspension specification etc etc.

Then again, any bike is more fun than none, so I'm not totally dissing the idea.
    Happy chappy

The bike from Aldi that I bough for my son a couple of years ago was the worst quality I ever had (I am an experienced cyclist). I got rid of it after a year.
My other usual advice is not to buy a full-suspension bike unless you are going to use it off-road. Front suspension for town use is more than sufficient. Rear suspension is only an extra weight and a source of extra problems ...

Any bike below £150-£200 is more trouble than its worth unless you find a good second hand one.

    Thanks for your replies all.

It's only for fun really. To encourage our son to go out on his more. They would only be riding around on the side streets not off-roading.

I wasn't expecting top of the range for that money but don't want to waste money either.

Didn't want to pay much, £80 was about right but sounds like we might be better looking for a front suspension one.

There's no rush so we'll look elsewhere.
