Oh My God, where did it all go?

Had my lightbulb moment 2 months ago, when our debt was just shy of £90,000. I work in a factory and my shifts were changed recently, with a pay cut, my husband works in construction, well that is at a stand still in the UK so he's been working abroad. This made me review our outgoings as money was getting tight and I didn't know where it was going, what an eye opener! I am so glad we had to check our finances as it was so easy just cruising along thinking everything is ok, I should have realised when I started having to pay for our food on a card with some remaining credit! Every journey starts somewhere, this is the start of ours. With the correct snowballing we should be debt free by December 2013, seems a long way off but at least we have a target date.

Hi Carwash and welcome to the diaries! :hello:

You'll find loads of support here. It's helped me a lot to keep a diary on here. My OH is in construction industry too so I know how it is. He's been lucky to have had some work but not a patch on what it used to be like. Hate having to live on such a reduced income but at least we're managing (at the moment anyway).

Good luck with your debt free journey. I'll keep looking in on you and see how you're getting on.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Good luck hope it's not too painful
