Problems with virus' on a laptop

My brother has a Packard Bell laptop which I installed some free anti-virus software on before he got onto the internet. He deleted a lot of stuff off the laptop though not knowing what he was doing and took off the anti-virus. Consequently, it ow has a lot of large viruses on it and we cant even get onto the control panel to change anything.

We are both clueless about laptops, but I think it might need re-formatting but we do not have the disks that came with it. Is there any way of reformatting the computer without the disks? Any help is really appreciated thanks.

If you dont have the discs and your dont have backups then your snookered. (Unless its a dell or suchlike which has a 'built in' backup system)

If you up for attempting to clean the system ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
    UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

Packard Bell laptops depending on age would have a hidden recovery partition.
any thing under 3years would have the recovery partition, if you look in the start menu / all programs / packard bell you should see the recovery program, however if your brother has removed it, then you will be unable to get the recovery image to recover.
You could google the packard bell model on recovery, or goto https://www.packardbell.com/support.htm and follow the instructions and see if it comes with recovery software or if you need the cd's

The recovery program to reinstall from the hidden partition would be on your computer.
on my previous post, i meant go to their website, type in your model number and see if it was supplied with the software built in or weather your had recovery cd's.
As you havent put down the MODEL NO. anywhere on this page I cant check their site to confirm either way.
there should somewhere in the all programs list, be a packardbell folder and inside that would be the command to run the recovery software, which should reboot directly into the hidden partition, not the bootable windows partiton to do the recovery.
