Thanks guys - yeah, there are plenty of dodgy areas in Leeds, and I grew up in a posh bit of Leeds so i'm a bit scared of them!
Prices for homes vary massively - In the city centre you're paying £550+ for a studio flat so I'd already ruled that out, and looking further afield.
As i say, the bit of Leeds around me is expensive, i'd like to stay near there cos of my local friends and stuff, but that puts the price up £100/£200 straight away. So if the O/R looks at the postcode area, £600/£700 is reasonable - if he compares to the whole of Leeds, it's completely unreasonable! This is where I start struggling with the definition of "reasonable"
Anyway, thanks for all your advice - reckon i'll look around the £600 mark - don't want to wind the OR up before i've even started!0 -
I think if I was an OR and a saw that someone moved from a £400 per month all in to a £700 plus bills the month before going BR.....I'd give em hell!Bankrupt as of 10.10am 9th November 2009ED on 18th May 2010 :T0

I would go on the safe side , we got a house for 550 a month , if you are told to move into a 550 house you cant argue that you dont have spare cash for the ipa0

If you have Firefox and Property-Bee, you will find that Leeds has a gross oversupply of rental flats on Rightmove.0

As GF and the children don't live with you, they wouldn't be classed as dependant and so the OR may question the need to rent the flat with 2 bedrooms. Be prepared to argue this with the OR.0
