Where to buy these Veggie items?

Options
Hi

I've been a vegetarian a long time, and theres a huge list of things I used to buy that either don't exist anymore or have disappeared from the shelves where I shop.

Any ideas where I can buy:

Pop tarts (the ones without the gelatinous topping. apple used to exist, that was veggie...)
Vegetarian sausages in beans
All day veggie breakfast in a can ( excellent for camping!)
Veggie Worcestor sauce?

preferably not via the net. Or have some of these items just ceased to exist?

You can get veggie sausage and beans from Tesco, their own make. I prefer the Tesco frozen veggie hotdogs, but the tinned ones do when I can't get these.

I used to like Pop tarts too and haven't seen them recently, only chocolate ones, so would love to know if anyone sells these.
  • Hendersons relish is very much like worceshire sauce but without the anchovies, so it is veggie - available in many supermarkets, especialy in the midlands and yorkshire (its made in sheffield!)

as mentioned by cte1111, tesco do their own veggie sausages in beans. also, some branches of morrisons stock the heinz version, but this seems to be a fairly sporadic occurence in my local branch! i think the tesco ones are pretty tasty though.

Sainsbury's do their own veggie sausage and beans, and I think there was a breakfast in a can thing too (wasn't looking properly, but DS pointed them out).

I'm not too keen on going Tescos so I haven't seen their sausages and beans, the Morrisons ones dissappeared in Leeds around 6 months to a year ago I think. Will try Sainsburies next time I go past one, we only seem to have the smaller ones round here, or will do a special trip to their branch at Meadowhall before a camping trip just to locate these all day veggie breakies!

Will deffo try that Hendersons relish, as Asda Pudsey stock it and I go past there quite a bit. Is it in liquid form, as I use it in Macaroni cheese recipes? I used to get one in liquid form from a local health/vegan food shop but that closed down, and the other one locally turned into a cafe on the back of the healthy food boom.

    Thanks again guys.
  • yes, it's liquid - it's just like worcestershire sauce in appearance, same shaped bottle and an orange label!

I had a veggie Worcester sauce once. just like water... :(

Nobody seems to do Pop tarts anymore... I used to like them n fancied some a while back for a treat... just assumed they had been taken off sale by the Govt food police...

Morrisons now do their own veggie sausages & beans, and I'm sure ASDA do them as well.
I've had the 'veggie breakfast in a can' and found the 'omelette' a bit disconcerting as it looked like an ear...

Another vote for Tesco hotdog sausages - they're made by Tivall, who make the ones found in health food shops.
