Reality check...

As some of you will know I've been a bit stressed lately for falling off the money saving wagon and not having put enough away in my wedding fund account.
I had a reality check this week when I discovered that someone I used to work with has been recently diagnosed with cancer. She is 25 (same age as me), the cancer is in three places and is in stage 5 (there are 5 stages - 1 being the first).
This was quite a shock and it made me think that yes I need to pull my socks up and be better with my money, but I should get on with it and be greatful that I have my health and the people I love around me. I feel rather guilty for worrying about spending out on stuff - not saying I shouldn't be good, but that I shouldn't moan about it and get on with it.
Puts everything in to perspective and I just wanted to share that with you.

Thats very very sad. Certainly puts our little money worries into perspective.

Hi Miffi,
Yes there is a time to worry about our own situation & a time to want more etc thats normal.
But perhaps most of the time we should count out blessings and appreciate what we have rather than just focus on what we don't have.
what often does it for me is the statistic that a billion or so people live on less than £1 a day / don't have access to clean water / roof over there head etc. etc
and theres me moaning about not having enough cash to go for a big night out at the weekend or get a plasma TV etc etc0 -
Hi Miffi
Really sorry to hear about your friend, I know this makes us all sit up and think my god I should be enjoying life but you also have to remember this- if it happened to any of us what a mess we are leaving behind for others to clear up if we stay in the financial mess we have created. So yes we have to make the best of life but we also have to play the hand of cards we have been dealt.0
