Reconditioned Washing Machine

Firstly I apologise if I posted this in the wrong sub-forum (I'm new to this place and it's a bit difficult to navigate around).
My partner and I are moving to a one bed flat in Manchester in a couple of weeks. Flat is partially furnished but found out last week the Landlord will not supply a washing machine at all. We've looked at how much it'll cost to get a basic washing machine and it's looking between £150 - £200 at least, and it's an expensive we can't really afford at the moment.
Someone mentioned to me about possibly getting a second hand/reconditioned washing machine instead, saying we could find a good one for under £100. Does anyone know anywhere in the Manchester/Stockport area that sells second hand/reconditioned washing machines? What are the price ranges and if you've ever brought one - was it any good?
We on average only do 3-4 loads of laundry a week so we won't be needing a heavy use one.

have u considered gumtree or eBay? i recon you'll get a very good deal if you hunt for it0

You could buy one in Argos £156 on interest free credit over 6 months. What I do with these deals is divide the amount due by the number of months and put into a savings account so I don't have to find the lump sum in one go to pay off the credit. For this washer it would be just £26 per month.
Also look at White box deals~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I'd second eBay or Gumtree. I got a quite posh Zanussi one for £50 that I suspect would outlast and outwash any cheap Argos one.
Just remember it's buyer beware though - ask to see the machine working if possible and go for a good brand, e.g. Bosch, Miele, Zanussi etc. as it won't cost much more second hand but will be money well spent if it lasts longer.0 -
i have a friend who got one on Freecycle!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

I got rid of my troublesome Bosch washer on Freecycle, though I did put in the add it was a lemon. I did think the chap who collected it was a repairer but it saved me from disposing of and the washing machine engineer who'd been out 5 times in two years I owned it also said it was trouble.
I don't think many people will give away a good working washing machine. Mine was in full working order when it went but it had broken down so many times I just couldn't stand it any more.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Shove your clothes in the bath, fill it up with hot water, shove in the washing poweder and get in and stomp around.
Seriously, when I first left home I could not afford a washing machine and I would wash all my clothes in the bath tub. Hard work, but it saved me money and the clothes did come up clean. I did this for over 6 months and survived ok.

Unfortunately this isn't really an option for me as I have quite severe arthritis but I would otherwise. Luckily my partners father is a builder and said he knows someone who is should be giving away a 18month old washer - so perhaps our luck maybe in with that *fingers crossed*.0
