Here's a "fun" eBay/PayPal problem to figure out!

I had similar problems a few years ago. I was suspended for 12 months, opened a new account, got caught and had it shut down. After the 12 months were up all I had to do was email them from the banned account email address and send them copies of my passport and proof of address (you know, in case I was a big time wanted criminal :rotfl:), I have now since set up a number of new accounts and am a powerseller.

Unfortunately eBay are very anal and won't give up any info, so the only thing you can do is to try and find your old email addresses. Have you tried calling eBay and explaining? Maybe try asking if they could do it over the phone and you can fax in any relevant information to back up your request?

If you have no luck, maybe you could try changing your name by deedpoll, moving a few million miles away from where you are now, disassociating yourself with any friends and family, and then re-register? :rotfl:Good old eBay!

If you're a business seller you could set up a limited company and open an Ebay account through the company.

Your best bet would be to write all the details in a letter (not phone or email) to Ebay and Paypal, telling the truth about the original accounts, what the problems were and why they won't/can't happen again. That's assuming you don't owe either of them any money, in which case you may have to sort the balance out.

No you can't, using ebay while suspended means a permanent ban.
Like I said, I need to sort out my old account before making a new one. Once you sort out any problems (not sure how, but that's what I'm trying to find out!), there's a period you have to wait before you can then open a new account.

AS for getting the account open, as per my original point, what then? YOu still can't resolve anything.
According to eBay staff, I need to resolve issues on my old account before opening a new one. Until I can somehow contact them through my old account, I can't find out what the *actual* issues are, so I won't know how to resolve them until then. Apparently they're issues that are able to be resolved (however they see fit), so that's what I'm trying to do. I'm just working under the assumption that if they've told me I can resolve it, then I can.

Gymfiend, yes they are VERY anal about things. You'd think that they'd have other methods in place to contact them besides using a 10 year old e-mail address that you'd forgotten and wouldn't have access to. Apparently you can't prove your identity in any way other than to e-mail them from this old account!

RFW, that's a good idea, but unfortunately that would still be going against eBay rules lol... the name change seems like my only option!
