Dont know what to do

can someone please givew me some advice.
i dont know whether to go bankrupt or the IVA.
i owe approx £35000.most of that is a re-possession from 12 years ago.i was told by cab to ignore it as it is so long ago,but you will always get letters asking for it.
i live with my partner,i dont own anything.she is worried which ever way i go,that she is going to end up coming down with me.
i have struggled making payments since being made redundant last october.i have still not managed to get full time work, but been offered a job abroad, which i am going to take.i just want to make a fresh start, but like ive said,i dont know which way to go
:confused::confused::confused:

Have you acknowledged the repo debt or paid anything towards it in the last 12 years?

dont think ive acknowledged it,definitely not paid anything on it
  • If you haven't paid anything to the repo debt or acknowledged it in writing in the last 12 years then it is Statute Barred and mortgage co. cannot chase you for the debt.

Have a quick word with National Debtline in the morning and see if they can help you with a letter to send to the co.

will be ringing debtline, but need a little more advice first.
the job abroad that i have been offered and start in september, requires me to have a little money behind me,about £3000.as i am only doing temporary work, everything im getting has got to go to that.
    question is.
1.do i wait till ive gone abroad to (maybe)go bankrupt,as i cant afford the fee at the moment.
2.will i have to be sending lots of money home to pay for it.
just want all the letters and phone calls stopping,my relationship is suffering enough.my partner says she doesnt want me too go abroad, but the way the climate is at the minute,i need to go and work.
all the debt ive got is making her un-happy.its my own fault, but the debt ive got,i had before i met her, even though i have paid quite a lot of it off,i have just had enough of struggling and its not fair on her

well,i rang debtline, for what it was worth.
the lady told me,as i had lived with my partner in her house for the last 8 years.the judge would see it that i have a vested interest and make her re-mortgage for some of my money.as you can imagine it went down like a lead balloon.
the worst part is,she is kicking me out.so now i have to find somewere to stay.
oh well,no-one else to blame but my self!!!!!!!!

ATR, the debt is statue barred, if you have not paid anything or acknowledged the debt in writing over the last 12 yrs. Use the templates and be pro-active by standing up to the DCA and telling them exactly this.
