Very nearly there! Quick note of thanks.

Getting quite excited. I've paid off my old debts & by the end of September all of my defaults should have dropped off my credit file, leaving just one CCJ which will remain on there until 2013.

Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone on the site really for all the advice, letter templates etc on here.

I really want to get on the proerty ladder early next year, and without this site I wouldn't have had a chance.

Cheers guys

Well done!! Must be a great feeling!! Can I ask for a bit of a background story?? How much you owed and cleared and any hints/tips etc?!! I think it would be inspiring!

Tha background's really a bit dull. I was made redundant just over 7 years ago & foolishly stuck my head in the sand & kept spending on credit cards etc for as long as they let me without making a payment. Once the payments were due of course I defaulted on everything & owed around £17k.

Once I had my lightbulb moment I used the guides & template letters available on here to get everything back on track.

I was fortunate to land up in a job that pays OK (I won't get rich from it, but it pays the bills) & was able to spare some money every month to pay some of the debts off - although around £8k never got paid & is now statute barred (not proud of that, but it helped).

SO, the last of my defaults drop off my report this year, with one CCJ remaining until 2013. Hopefully i'll convince a decent mortgage lender that i've learned from my mistakes & won't let my fiances get in that state again.

I settled just £3k of debt on my credit file a few years back but still nobody will touch me with a bargepole, not even for a new current account, despite the fact I earn a good salary and have few outgoings. So good luck with getting that mortgage, hopefully the CCJ can be explained but I have had no luck trying to get a small loan or even a new lower rate credit card rather than having my vanquis and cap 1 cards. £3k settled default is ruling my life and won't drop off til 2011.:(
    Vanquis- Limit £1250, balance £0
Capital One Classic- Limit £800, balance £0
Natwest Current Account- £800 OD limit, approx £600 OD
Loan- £3300, will be paid off by Dec 09
Student Loan- paid off Dec 09 (That's £150 a month extra! Woohoo)
Empire Catalogue Account- £750 limit, balance £30
