    Welcome on board.

These calls should settle down in a month or 2. In the meantime when they call just give them your Payplan refernce number & don't discuss details with them - if necessary hang up.

There is a template letter to only deal with them in writing you could also send (amend where necessary)

    Quote:
    Your Street

    City

    DATE HERE

    Road

    City / County

    Dear Sirs,

    Harassment by telephone

    Account Number: XXXXXXX

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.

I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)

I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. Please note that the address for correspondence is that stated above and you are required to remove any and all other contact details from your system forthwith.

I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.

Please treat this also as a formal complaint, and send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.

Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)

    Yours faithfully,

Hi pie man - totally understand - a lot of people are too embarrased to tell their OHs & family, other want to tackle it because its their debt.

If you want someone to talk about things to there is always someone about on here who can listen and advise.

If you want advice on cutting back on costs etc you could post a statement of affairs (similar to your payplan budget) and we can look at where you can save money. This can mean you have a bit of extra room to save up outside the Payplan budget. In time you may want to use this to make reduced settlement offers against some of your debts.

Good luck - it will get easier now that you have decided to tackle things.

It depends when you say you want to go ahead with it. I contacted CCCS a few times before I asked them to send me the pack for me to sign the agreement form. They won't push you into anything. They set things up when you're ready. I could have delayed my dmp for a while to sort things out but had reached the point of no return, financially speaking, so for me it took about 3 weeks to set up.
