Almost the same as the machine they were selling last month, but with a much faster processor (3.2GHz vs 2.66GHz). I bought one for £249 and upgraded the memory and graphics for my son. Great little machine which is very quiet - makes a super new machine for people who only want to do WP, email, internet etc.

Do these machines have a network port? thanks
  • Would one of the following upgrades be a better option than the Celeron?

    Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 521 with HT technology (2.80GHz, 800MHz fsb, 1MB cache) [add £23.50]

    Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 630 with HT technology (3.00GHz, 800MHz fsb, 2MB cache) [add £47.00]

Dell memory upgrades are £££££ - I assume I can buy memory from lowestonweb.com or crucial and upgrade it myself?

My understanding is that pentium 4s were not actually designed for laptops, run hotter and use more battery power...
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Goes off and writes on the board 100 times

    Sorry! :p

I did know that, honestly, I already have 3 dimensions myself! :p

    (Yes, I'm three dimensional)

Can anyone confirm or deny presence of ability to add:

    agp graphics card
    a second sata harddrive

I have both - both a lot better than anything that comes on the system - but I would want to add them. I phoned dell and asked - but spoke to someone in sales and they just sounded like sata was a dish of curry - and although they said yes I need to check with someone who has opened one up and knows what they are talking about.

because the proprietary Dell motherboard has no AGP or PCI-Express 16x slot for a graphics card, you can't replace the graphics card with anything better

You CAN replace the graphics card!! But you can only put in a PCI card, NOT a PCI-e or AGP one. Best available at present is a GeForce 6200 128MB which PC World are selling for £59.99, but occasionally drop to £39.99. And it does work because I just put one in the new 5100 which I got on Tuesday - works fine, although Sid Meier's Pirates doesn't seem to like the nvidia drivers I used.
Also has onboard network, but I haven't tried it because the new PC is being used with a USB wireless connector.
There is also a drive slot for a second SATA drive along with a power connector in situ. There is a second motherboard point to connect the SATA drive to, but no cable so you'd have to get one of those as well.
