Hi Karen can't really add much to the great advice already posted just wanted to say welcome :D
Can I ask how much much the interest is on the provident loan?? It should be on the copy of the agreement you signed..asking as I was offered one and on looking further the interest was a staggering 102% !!! You might be able to reduce this..

Thanks, I think it'll be worth getting in touch with the bank to see if I can get the interest reduced a bit.

The council tax should be paid off somewhere around 2010, and I've already offered them a reduced rate, which they accepted!

Our gas and electric are on pre pay meters, as to be perfectly honest, we can't be trusted to pay up on quartelry bills!!

The car is only really used for my partner to get to and from work, which is about 20 miles a day, but it's a 2.5 V6, so it's bound to be costing more than a lille run around.

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice, they're really making me think!!

For the elec and gas is it worth switch to a normal meter and then going on a direct debit of a set amount per month. If you do keep an eye on your bills as they will send you estimated figures.

Plus they quite often give you discounts for paying by direct debit.
