Stoke-on-Trent - classes, courses, groups?

Hello,
I'm looking for free (or very cheap) courses, classes, or general social groups (like book clubs etc) in Stoke (or Newcastle/ Hanley). Does anyone know of any?
I'm 22 and desperately trying to fill time whilst unemployed! I'm trying to get some volunteer work too, but I worry about letting them down if I do get a paid job.
(Also if you need a babysitter I'm reliable and available... . Just had a thought, does that class as promoting my own business? If so, let me know and I shall remove... it's hard to keep up!)

I'd have a look in the Evening Sentinel, there maybe something put up in the local libraries. Have you tried Hanley Museum I don't know if they have volunteers, also some theatres have volunteers to usher etc. Age concern have volunteers and the hospital used to have a volunteer service. Local churches may also have information.0

Heya,
Volunteer wise, I'm sure anywhere you joined up with could adjust to changing hours, they'd just be glad of help Depending where abouts you are based, there's a charity shop in Crewe advertising for someone with 2-3hours to spare- it's just across from the bus station.
What type of courses/classes are you after? If you like crafts there's a few I can think of locally which don't charge a lot.0
