Credit Report - what does "query" mean?

Hi,
Just checked my credit report or the first time in a few years. I notice I have 2 query "Q" entries showing up on last years mortgage payments.
I will contact my lender, but I wondered if anyone can give me a heads up on what it could be, and is it harmful on a credit report??
Many thanks!

Hello.
Im sorry it isnt something I recognise/remember. I have had a look on google too, but cant find an explanation.
All I can think of is if you took any Payment holidays? Or made payments in advance so that you could have a month or two off elsewhere?
Sorry I cant be anymore helpful. I just wanted to let you know someone saw your post & tried . :0)
You are doing the right thing in contacting your lender.
Hope its nothing negative.

Hi!
I disputed a bill with Orange which they admitted was wrong and so for the three months it took them to sort it out my credit report was up dated with a Q and a U with the other agency.
I called up the agencies and was told that it means the company have had a query from you about it and have now sorted it out but this does not affect your score.
I found all this out last week so I'm sure it's correct and up to date.0
