I have just sold my beloved apple notebook. I realise it is a sad statement but I LOVED my little Mac. Still, £600 counts more, but am still in mourning. In May I need to give up my other beloved, Dave, my Vivaro van, which may be even more painful. Anyone else having to do painful stuff to get back on track? It can feel lonely repaying debt anyway without having to make such hard choices. I feel guilty too that to others these are not hard choices. As a youth worker I see kids with really crappy lives, so I shouldn't complain, but....

Cheer up paintygirl. I think everyone on here has had to make sacrifices at some point. The rewards for being debt free will be a thousand times great, plus you'll be a beacon of inspiration for all the poor kids you know0 -
And on the bright side, once you are debt free and have got some savings you can buy an all new signing, dancing shinier version of your Apple! Well done on making the sacrifice though0

For me its not so much give up things. Its showing enthusiasm for other people when they have bought this, are going there or have done this to their home. I just smile but inside I know I can't have or do and just manage to survive.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I am going to sell my collection of signed childrens books. This doesn't sound like a big sacrifice but They are special to me, especially my Quentin Blakes. But being debt free will feel even better! It will all be worth it Paintygirl! :T0

Yep i am giving up some things very close to my heart, things that i am sure most people would think little of but they mean alot to me and i am feeling the loss. I just keep telling myself, its all for the greater good and once all my debts are cleared i can replace one or two in as best a way as possible but without the getting back into debt bit. Its hard and i wonder how long i will feel as optimistic, as i am just starting out on my long debt clearing road fingers crossed each time i stumble it will be just a small one and being here will help me dust myself back off and carry on.
So however you feel at least you know paintygirl that you are not alone.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Yep, I know how you feel, I sold my entire CD collection of around 3000 CDs built up over the last 15 years... gutted.
The worst thing is I did it pre-lightbulb moment and I didn't clear anything with it, it just gave us some breathing room for a month or so...

I'm currently building up to sell my beautiful, wonderful and downright sexy Bang and Olufsen hifi. I've told myself if I can get another job then I can keep it - but thats looking unlikely
I feel your pain....
