I have some buttons to put on a couple of shirts and just realised that the only place short of a department store I could think of getting needles and threads is Woolworths!:rolleyes::eek: Which is a shame under the circumstances. Does anyone else know where you can get such basic items. Argos does a nice set for £9 or £19 which appears to be for sewing machines.
Help!
Help!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

Hi try your local pound shops and such like they sometimes do cheap sewing kits ,needles, threads, thimble etc
Hope this helpsIf the world didn't suck we would all fall off0 -
don't you have a haberdashery or market stall? you'd be better off going ther and getting the bits you'd find useful, rather than paying out for a pre made kit with stuff in it you might never use.August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
Wilkinsons usually do a few sewing bits and pieces.0

Try and sneak into your local hotel and grab one from a room. Only joking by the way before anyone goes of their head. It is one thing I will always take from a hotel room though, never mind the soap and shampoo!0

It was quite a while ago, but I got a little pocket/travel sewing kit from, IIRC, Crabtree & Evelyn. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I got my daughter a very neat little sewing kit from Tesco. It's not a kids' one - it has all the basics in it you need - scissors, needles, thread Our Tesco also sells needles, thread etc separately. It's not a very big Tesco, they sell those sorts of odds and ends at the end of aisles so you often don't notice them. Can't remember how much it was, but it can't have been more than a couple of quid (or else I wouldn't have bought it!)
I know what you mean about missing Woolworths. We don't have a Wilkinsons or any big supermarkets in our town so its really left a gap. Spent ages trying to find PVA glue the other day...Woolies RIPweaving through the chaos...0 -
I bought a little travel sewing kit from Poundland last week... its about 10cm square, zipped little pouchie thing, and has all the basics in it.0

Asda have a small stand in one of the aisles (in the home stuff section) with sewing stuff on - needles, tape measures, needle threaders, pins, threads etc. You could get a small collection of these and store in something like a takeaway container or other small airtight box, if you don't have a proper sewing box.0

Spend a night with you bit of spare in a semi decent hotel. They have nice little kits you can nick for free.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0

I got one of these for my grand-daughter to take to university.
I think they're brilliant and have everything they need to start off with.
Also they do packs with lots of little reels of cotton so for £2 you get a good little starter kit.0
