Double-salary: what are your thoughts?

Just wondered what other people's opinion on this was?
Personally, I just don't get it. Yes, the bank messed up, but why should she STILL be entitled to receive that amount ongoing?
I think it's a bit far-fetched of her to claim she didn't realise she was being overpaid. Most of us would jump at the slightest sniff of underpayment - surely everyone knows what their salary is, right?
Fair play to her for not giving in to the bank and fighting her corner - and yes, I think she shouldn't have to repay the overpayments so far - but to let her continue taking a double salary is a two-fingered salute to her colleagues and annoys me, actually!

I disagree, she was told that she would receive a significant payrise after the takeover and the bank had ample opportunities to spot any mistake - they provided proof of salary so that she could get a mortgage for gods sake!!
No I think it is very believable that she didn't know about the mistake and I don't think they should drop her salary.0 -
Just reading the headline I thought that clearly the woman was taking Barclays for a ride; however after reading the story, and assuming it is true that she was told she would receive a significant payrise when she switched to Barclays, there is no reason to think she would have known.
Its not as though she had a contract saying she will be paid £9500 per annum and was then paid £17k per annum. You would have expected her to spot the problem; however the fact that she was given a contract indicating she will be paid £17k per annum and she was then paid that amount, why should she question it.0 -
It all depends on the contract wording which we can't see. If it clearly stated £17,000 full time salary, to be paid on a pro-rata basis, then she should have known. If that wasn't clear, then fair enough.
Presumably the judge considered the wording unclear to have ruled the way he did.
Thing is, how annoyed would you be if you were one of her colleagues working part-time or full-time on the correct salary?!0 -
Didn't she post her some months back asking for advice? I'm sure I read it on here before but I'll be blowed if I can find the thread.
Good luck to her plus she gets to keep her higher rate.
Wonder how her colleagues feel about it thoughBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

Yes, I have just looked here after reading the story on the paper and remembering it., I'll try and dig it out, although I'm sure there have been replies to that thread.
edit: Can't find anything anywhere! It's possible they asked for the thread to be deleted pending the tribunal0 -
Absolutly no chance she didnt know about it.
Im sure barclays will have her out within a few months also. Hope she can cross every T and dot every I perfectly.0 -
