Chiropractor fees

Hi,

I'm looking for a chiropractor in the Birmingham area and was confused by the wide variation in fees (£20-£50 for half an hour I think). They all seem to offer pretty much the same thing... although I am new to this chiropractor malarky.

Does anyone know whether it's a case of getting what you pay for in this industry and it's worth paying the extra?

Can anyone recommend any in Birmingham?

Thanks.

    Hi Gem

Chiropractors allow extra time for a first visit, so they talk to you about what's brought you to see them, do a physical examination, talk to you again about your diagnosis and what treatment might be appropriate etc. That first visit will usually be between 30-45 minutes. Many chiropractors will treat you on that first visit. Some chiropractors prefer bring you back for a second visit to explain your diagnosis and then commence treatment at that second visit.

In terms of fees though, the first visit is split into consultation, examination and treatment. There is usually a all-in price if you like, for that first visit. That can vary from clinic to clinic. The treatment fee would what you pay per treatment visit. This can often give you a better idea of what the fees are really like. In a big city like Birmingham however there might well be more variation in treatment fee than in a smaller town city where the difference in treatment fee may only be between £1-£3, if that. So going by treatment fee might be a help to you. It also helps if you can to get a recommendation from someone who's been to a chiropractor in your immediate area.

    I hope that helps.

I was a practice manager for a Chiropractor for over 4 years. The clinic I worked in was just outside of Birmingham and I can recommend a Chiropractor if you want to PM me.
Treatment isn't for a set time and is tailored to suit the individual. Charges usually vary between practices, but it's all about finding a doctor to suit you as it is quite an personal experience.
Be aware that it isn't a quick fix, you may feel improvement very quickly but you are advised to continue with treatment by regularly attending the Clinic every 12-16weeks to maintain optimum spinal health.
Depending on the severity of your condition you may need to attend the Clinic several times a week for a while so also be mindful that it can be very expensive.
My Mum and brother were both relieved of sciatic pain that had plagued them for years and were very pleased with the results. I had a total hip replacement 3 and a half years ago and found the acupuncture helped with dealing with my pain prior to the operation.

I would be a little more optimistic than that. Not many clinics I think would be seeing you several times a week "for a while." Your problem may well be very straight-forward, if you've just moved house and strained your back, you've got a good chance of speedy uncomplicated recovery.

    Good luck!

Thanks both, I've got an appointment booked for Friday with a company offering free consultation/report (I did call them to check it out) and then £30 per session.

Am looking forward to it! I just got fed up of my doctors telling me I'd just slept funny and that deep heat would do the trick. Hopefully now I'll actually finally get some answers!

    Thanks again for your help.
