If she's got any garden left, you can do them for her.
It's a worry when you can't do it for yourself."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Hi all just found out my neighbor has a serious illness and i want to give her a gift, something that when she sees it she will know everyone is thinking of her and wishing her well etc.
My problem is that it was her birthday recently and she gave me a ticking off for wasting my money on a gift instead of spending it on my kids, so i thought i could make her something.
I just can't think of something to make her, i thought about flowers but giving her something that will wither and die isn't exactly appropriate. the kids are making her cards.
Would a hamper be good! what could i put in it?
Thanks for any ideas.
A hamper would be good but perhaps not one that's too food oriented if she'll soon be off her food. Perhaps nice things for passing time - books (Which can be picked up cheaply in library booksales and charity shops), perhaps crosswords puzzles or sudoku, dvds (Again charity shops or even sometimes on the freebies board) and you could sign up for samples of pampering products like shower gels and skin creams to place in there with an offer of coming over to have some time being a bit girly which can make you feel better when sick (of course dependant on what your neighbour is like).
The cards sound like a great idea, perhaps if you and the kids have a little time sometime you could make her a storybook from them - they can make up a story for her and draw the pictures to go with it. It seems as though she thinks of your kids as important so that would be quite a nice little gift they cold make that she could enjoy. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Plus, as others have said, helping with picking up shopping, or giving her lifts places, just the general day to day stuff could be far more of a god send for her than flowers or a hamper. Just my tuppence0 -
As some one who has been very ill and spent a lot of time in hospital, I know its the things people do rather than give that is important, as other have suggested, help with her laundry, cleaning up and ask if you can get anything at the shop - of course she will want to stay indepenednt too but its appreciated when you know people are thinking about you. Also, stay for a chat when you call in. Get the children to draw her pictures.
My brother once bought me a teddy bear for when I feel down and it really works.0 -
Oh yes, Orchid flowers are really pretty and a nice thing to look at, mine really brightens my day up and I have found simple things like this really cheer me up these days. They dont even need looking after.0

Some friends came to visit when I had just had DD.
They brought a bag full of M&S microwave ready meals. Really thoughtful0
